Creating the new iPhonograph Portasound

| May 13, 2013

This is the beginning of a new sound system I am creating.  As you can see from the pictures the wooden case is for holding 6 bouilles.  This will house a 25 watt amplifier with a brass horn and cradle for an iPhone or iPad.  I haven’t decided if I will include bluetooth yet.  The original case was thrown out by someone and looks a lot worse for wear than the photograph.  I spent the next few days cleaning it up in readiness to make it a desirable and useable artefact.

The Troubleshooter Giveaway

| September 18, 2012

A Stefan/Mark Krajnak production

Ok ‘punks, so if you’ve been following my recent series of articles, then you know that I’ve been yadda yadda all about my recently published novel The Troubleshooter: New Haven Blues. Looking for a shot of noir, a dash of dieselpunk and sci fi shaken well and poured over a dystopian future? You got it.

“So what?” you say. “Self-published books are a dime a dozen. Why should I be interested?”

Well, that’s a good question. And here’s the answer: free.

That’s right, free. As in no cost, limited time offer and whatnot. You see, I just put the finishing touches on the official Troubleshooter website, and figured I could celebrate that by giving away digital copies of the novel free for let’s say a week, give or take a day or two. More specifically, until this coming Friday.

There you have it. If you own a Kindle, Nook, iPad, or e-reader of another kind, then you have a chance to check out my debut novel for free.

And if you don’t, no need to feel left out. I’m also sponsoring a giveaway of an autographed copy of the print version as well. So you at least get a chance of holding that Mick Trubble flavor in your hands and savoring the aroma of bourbon, cigarettes and gunpowder.

The giveaway is through Smashwords.com using the coupon code SK55Q. All details can be found at the website here. Go get it.

An iPhonograph for Charity

| June 25, 2012

I was asked if I could donate an iPhonograph to NSW Cavalcade of History and Fashion charity to raise some much needed funds in a raffle.  So I created this more modern version (compared to my previous iPhonograph) as 1st prize in their biggest fundraising event this year – their 50th Anniversary Fashion Parade raising money to preserve clothing of past eras which provide unique clues to our social history.  Here is a link to NSW Cavalcade of History and Fashion.  Click here to see the pictures of the iPhonograph in its original form.

She’s a beauty and has an input for a microphone (with it’s own separate volume control) and you can control the Treble, Bass and Volume.  This baby has 50 watts of sound and what a SOUND!!  You can plug in your iPhone, iPad, iPod Into the cradle or any audio device through the microphone input.

dieselpunkindustries.com labor day weekend preview

| May 25, 2012

All,

Back in 2005 I created archiveclassicmovies.com to post my old movies. Since that time I’ve added almost 500 old movies, serials, shorts, and cartoons. With that much content it’s been difficult to update, and poor ACM has really been neglected the past couple of years. I’ve finally developed a CMS that will let me more easily update my content, so I’m going to retire ACM, which will become dieselpunkindustries.com.

Currently the preview of dielsepunkindustries.com has 254 movies, three radio series, and one Flash Gordon 12 episode movie serial. I will also be adding comic books, pulp novels, and radio shows. My radio show library consists of 11,000 episodes which translates to 4 months of continuous listening.

The preview will be up through labor day weekend. If you would like to take a look and give me some feedback. I’d really appreciate it.  I’ll then take your feedback, take down the site retool it as needed then relaunch. I’m looking for criticism here, so bring it on.

What works on the site:
Only the Main Menu button in the upper right, Home, Radio, Serials, and Radio buttons work. The listen live doesn’t work on anything yet except Safari. Don’t blame me for that. If all the other browsers HTML5 audio tag refuses to work with live audio feeds that’s not my fault. I will make it work eventually.

This should work on most browsers I’m pretty sure it won’t work on Internet Explorer 6-8. on 9 I haven’t really checked yet.

For iPad users:
The site has been optimized for the iPad if you do the “Add to Home Screen” thing it will make a nice icon on your home screen.

Thanks for you help,

Scott

Just when I thought I was getting ahead!!!

| March 20, 2012

It’s not enough that I have so many things to finish I’ve now been asked to create an iPhonograph for an art exhibition called ‘from waste to art’.  So…….this is what I have been working on.  It has a 50 watt amplifier which I built from a kit, a 50 watt speaker under the embossed brass horn which can handle a 100 watts of power and to finish this off I am installing a tone control.  The cradle takes an iPad, iPhone or iPod and charges them at the same time – enjoy!  I am changing the black knobs on the front for nice gleaming brass ones!

Robot presidents, bedtime stories, and killer rides

| March 13, 2012

Spring seems to have arrived here already, which means another steampunk book giveaway cannot be far away! Stay tuned for the fun!

Did you know the Smithsonian has a weblog dedicated to the future that never was? They do, and it’s incredible. Steampunky tinkerer types will love “The iPad of 1935,” while Generation Xers will love this collection of 1970s kids’ drawings visualizing the year 2076. (We’re kind of a weird generation.)

The first steampunk bedtime story? Perhaps! (Those of us who grew up hearing Jules Verne at bedtime may disagree.)

This wacky film of “boarding school girls” (?) visiting Coney Island in 1905 is lovely for its retro goodness, but what’s really fascinating are the rides.

For the neovictorian audiophile, Instructables presents the Traveling Steampunk DJ Cabinet.

Via Kate Beaton’s Tumblr, take a gander at the great names of New York gangs in the 1920s. The Warriors of the 1970s had nothing on these fellows. (Well, maybe the Baseball Furies. Maybe.)

Steampunk MEGAPHONOGRAM

| March 4, 2012

I have been asked by so many people to create another iPhonograph that I’ve had to postpone my steampunk mouse.  So here is my newest creation in the making, and believe me this one is BIG!  I have to have this finished by the 20th March!  I call this one the MEGAPHONOGRAM.
