Hello fellow artists and makers,
I want to share an open call for entry to the Circle City Aerodrome's first ever Steampunk Art show. This is a juried show and will have its opening reception as part of the city-wide First Friday gallery night on Feb 1, 2013. We really want to put our best boot forward and in order to do that we need help from all you mad scientists, inventors extraordinaire, artists and makers from all walks to submit your entries for our inaugural exhibit: ‘Punked: Yesterday’s Tomorrows.
This is where the Circle City (Indianapolis, IN) will get its first ever taste of what we create for the past’s visions of the future and will feature fine craft and art interpretations of the Steampunk movement. Most folk in Indianapolis have no idea or at best, a very vague idea of what steampunk is…. (You just glue some gears on it, right?) SO, please help us introduce the amazing creativity of Steampunk Art and Craft to them ( .. and knock 'em outta their boots!)
Circle City Aerodrome is still getting over the fact that both Tempest and Jake von Slatt have agreed to help us jury this inaugural Art Show that will open just in time for our Grand Masquerade Ball weekend. Please please feel free to read more about them and how to apply on our website: http://circlecityaerodrome.org/index.php/masquerade/artreception
Application Postmark / email receipt deadline: Nov 26, 2012
Show Location: New Day Meadery in Fountain Square Indianapolis, IN

As many my have read before (and perhaps even agree), I tend to believe that Art Nouveau is the perhaps the apex of Steampunk genre art. it has roots in the historical sense, but re-imagined for the Steampunk genre. Finding excellent artists to represent what might might call “Steampunk Art Nouveau” is a challenge, as good artwork is a challenge to develop and refine. While I was doing my research on the topic, I came sought an artist with the skills and talent to bring this to life – and found Mr. Chaz Kemp, and his brilliant endeavors!
Mr. Kemp’s work includes the basic noted aspects of Art Nouveau, including stylized borders, a central individual focus with a tie-in to the central theme of the work, a color palate reflecting the work, and of course, excellent talent!
He does have an Esty endeavor, where he display his works, so do make it a point of stopping by and paying an eye to it. His work is amaziFor more information regarding his work, please visit the following locations…

As you probably already know Art Donovan has an amazing Steampunk Art Exhibition at Oxford University's Museum of the History of Science. Today I am bringing you two of my favorite pieces from the show. The show includes several amazing handcrafted lighting pieces with heavy use of metal and vivid burning filaments. The wall piece to the right is one of the more simple pieces, I could easily see this piece in a smaller study or library room. After the cut is a larger image of one of the more complicated works that would be great for a ballroom.

James Richardson-Brown of The Artificers’ Club needs your help:
I have received news that a proposed book on steampunk art will be going ahead. Published one of the UK’s leading art publishers and edited by myself.
I am now looking for artists of all types to grace the pages of this humble endeavour with your wonderous creations. Apply now…
If you’re a Steampunk maker-artist, and you want to be featured in a book on the subject, this is your chance! Being considered for inclusion requires membership in The Artificers’ Club, which appears to be free of charge, but application-based.
